41 YEARS OF CHARITABLE DEEDS

CGNIE’S $1 MILLION HISTORY IN OUR COMMUNITY

Yes, Sacramento has an EMPEROR and an EMPRESS!  For over 40 years, The Court of the Great Northwest Imperial Empire (CGNIE) has worked tirelessly to provide assistance to local nonprofit groups and organizations – all while having fun and promotingleadership skills amongst its membership.  Each year, the Northern California community elects an EMPEROR and an EMPRESS to head the organization.  They in turn find volunteers who are given titles such as PRINCE or PRINCESS, COUNT or COUNTESS, with the mission of travelling about the region, hosting events and functions and donating the proceeds to those in need.

Over the past 40 years, CGNIE has raised over a million dollars forcharities as varied as the diverse peoples of our region, including the following sample list:

AVALON HOUSE, CARES, WEAVE, BREAKING BARRIERS, FOCUS FOUNDATION, P.A.W.S., LAMBDA COMMUNITY FUND, ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY, SUNBURST PROJECTS, MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION, AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, C.A.P.I.T.A.L., NOR CAL AIDS LIFECYCLE, GOLDEN RULE SERVICES, S.I.N. SACRAMENTO, CAPITAL CITY AIDS WALK, MATTHEW SHEPARD FUND, PROJECTO HACER

All of CGNIE’s staff members are unpaid volunteers, who often use their own funds to travel, arrange functions and host events.  At the end of each year, the “Court” celebrates its successful reign with an annual Coronation Ball, which also raises funds to keep CGNIE operating.
